3.
Student String Program
The WVSO
and Kanawha County Schools have offered a String Education Program
since 1986. Instructors in the program, also orchestra musicians,
teach in elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Kanawha
and Boone counties. Over 300 students currently participate in the
Kanawha County Program, which is concluded each year with an All-County
String Festival.
Recently,
the Horace Mann Middle School orchestra won second place in the
middle school category in a national competition that took place
in Kansas City, Missouri.
Contact your
local school for more information. If you are interested in starting
a similar program in another county, contact the WVSO Education
and Community Outreach Program at (304) 561-3531.
