Young People's ConcertsGive us a Wolf, we'll give you concert!

Two of the three Young People's Concerts in the WVSO series this season involve wolves.  The series begins with Song of the Wolf, a recasting of the story of "The Three Little Pigs" by Meastro Grant Cooper. Teachers in grades K-8 are encouraged to register to receive CD ROM materials produced by the WVSO.  Interactive, cross-curricular lesson plans correlate to Content Standards and Objectives of WV, Ohio and Kentucky.  Additional resource supplements are also available.   Four concerts will be performed November 16 and 17 in Charleston.

Each concert is performed twice daily at 9:45 and 11:45 a.m.  Cost is $4 per student, with some admission assistance available for schools that apply.  The concert is free for teachers and chaperones  within a 10:1 ratio.  Additional adults tickets are $4.   Concerts take place in the Maier Fundation Performance Hall at the Clay Center in Charleston, WV.

On March 29 and 30, a wolf will once again "take center stage" in Prokofiev's well-known classic, Peter and the Wolf.  Also recommended for students grades Pre-K-5, the program will also feature "Goldilocks and the Three Bears."

Middle school and high school teachers of Spanish, music and social studies will want to check out our February 24 concert, Latin American Beat.   Latin American Beat pre-concert materials trace six composers throughout Spanish-speaking countries and show the influence of Latin American culture on some of the most exciting music we have to offer.
